Abstract

An 11-year-old boy shared a room with his big brother and reacted in this context with a territorial marking conflict with bed-wetting as a consequence. By understanding the cause, a real solution was quickly and easily found here by finally giving the boy his own room. From now on, the bed-wetting disappeared.

Description

A former work colleague called me because he was looking for advice for his son.

He described to me that his son suddenly wets the bed regularly at night when he is about 11 years old.

They had already been to the doctor and had also placed the boy in a recreational program during the school vacations, where he was supposed to learn how to cope with this situation again.

Together with a friend of mine who is very familiar with the 5BL, we analyzed the situation:

The child is a sibling and has another older brother. The two share a room. The older brother does not give the 11-year-old any privacy and rummages through his things. The 11-year-old therefore has a conflict of not being able to mark his territory or not being able to mark the boundaries against his brother, which leads to numbness of the ectodermal bladder mucosa in the conflict-active phase. The urge to urinate is thus hardly felt and the body thus retains the urine.

At night, when the body relaxes, it can no longer hold the urine and it goes to bed.

As soon as he is able to reassert his territory, there is an overfunction with an increase in sensitivity and he can mark the boundaries again and again even with the smallest amounts.

As a strategy for resolving such a situation, my friend recommended: If possible, the 11-year-old should get his own room and in this case be allowed to lock it. This way he would have a territory and would not hold back the urine anymore.

But beware! Since it can happen during the conflict resolved phase that blood gets into the urine, the boy should only pee sitting down and not look into the bowl afterwards. If there was blood in the urine, he might otherwise have a follow-up conflict that the urine was no good for marking.

I called my colleague and asked him about the conditions as described by my friend. I was totally amazed when he confirmed all the points without exception.

Since there was space for another children's room, he provisionally prepared a room for the 11-year-old on the same day and he was allowed to sleep there. From that day on, he never wet the bed again. The blood in the urine did not occur, so the situation was solved and settled after a few hours.
