Report: Secretory otitis media
10 years ago, the now 35 year old woman had a boss who bullied his employees wherever possible, exploited them, insulted them, disparaged them… so that working in this company was a torture. She held out for two years because there were very few alternatives with her very high but specific qualification.
Today she is working in another company where the conditions are much more pleasant.
A few months ago, she was called to the phone at work and with absolute horror she heard the voice of her then boss in her left ear, who asked her if she would like to work for him again. Her only thought was: «How do I get rid of this guy so that I NEVER NEVER NEVER have to hear him again!» It was clear to her that she didn’t just want to put him off, but had to tell him clearly that it was absolutely out of question for her, which she did unmistakably.
In the evening she noticed that her left ear felt strange. She felt a feeling of pressure on her ear, her hearing was dull, she had the feeling that her ear was full of water, she could no longer equalize the pressure. Over the next few days, the symptoms became stronger and were massively disturbing. The doctor, which the woman visited after about 3 days, diagnosed a «secretory otitis media».
Since she knows the 5BL, she knew that the phone call must have had something to do with it. We discussed the case afterwards to estimate the duration of the symptoms:
The dull hearing is caused by a buildup of fluid in the middle ear, which prevents the eardrum from vibrating freely. Since there was no pain, it was probably simply the result of the constantly forming secretion of the middle ear mucosa, which could no longer drain off. The drainage is normally possible through the Eustachian tube, which was swollen in her case. To determine whether the entodermal tube or its ectodermal transition to the nose was swollen, she tried a nasal spray, which usually reopens the tube in the case of the ectodermal nasal mucosa. The nasal spray did not relieve the symptoms, i.e. the entodermal tube was affected. The telephone call must have been the conflict resolution of the SBS of the left Eustachian tube for her – the conflict content here is «to have to listen to get rid of the danger/the predator/…» (in contrast to the right side, where it is about the desired morsel). In fact, she used to be forced to listen to this «predator» every day at work for two whole years, she was constantly in danger of the boss coming and bullying her. Interestingly enough, the dismissal at that time was not the resolution of this monthly active SBS, but only the telephone call 10 years later. Presumably because she has now made it very clear to herself and the ex-boss that they will never have to deal with each other again and under no circumstances, which was not so clear at the time of her dismissal due to the difficult job market situation.
So after the analysis we could be pretty sure that the PCLA and therefore the swelling and its symptoms (fluid in the ear) will last exactly 3 weeks, because the CA phase used to be much longer than 6 weeks and there were no recurrences. In fact, the ear reopened almost exactly 3 weeks later, because the water was able to drain off. The disturbing symptoms had now disappeared immediately untreatedly.
